Founder, May Realty Advisors
Matthew May is a nationally recognized commercial real estate and retail advisor, expert, speaker, and contributing author. From development and national retailer representation to project leasing and investment sales, Matthew has seen and worked all sides of the retail real estate segment.
As a strategic advisor, Matthew provides guidance to regional and national retail operators, individual and institutional investors, family offices, and developers in matters concerning commercial real estate acquisitions, expansion, dispositions, restructuring, and intelligence. Recognized by the Los Angeles Business Journal, City of Beverly Hills, and CoStar for his accomplishments and contribution to the industry, Matthew has been called to serve as an expert witness on cases involving retail real estate and often participates on panel discussions on related topics.
Matthew founded May Realty Advisors (MRA) on the premise of delivering institutional level service with an entrepreneurial approach. Focusing on providing advisory based on street-level, hands-on experience and intelligence gained from decades of working with retail tenants, sellers, and developers, on all aspects of a deal, MRA is proud to have worked and consulted on projects from L.A. to Taipei. In addition, the MRA team has worked with TIAA, Citibank, Macy’s, Douglas Emmett, Simon, DeBartolo Development, and Realty Income, among many others.
Matthew recently celebrated his 30th anniversary in the industry and closing over $2 billion in real estate transactions.
Matthew is a founding member of two nationwide commercial real estate organizations, the Retail Brokers Network and the Capital Markets Real Estate Association. He is also a member of the Association of Corporate Real Estate Executives, the International Council of Shopping Centers, and the Urban Land Institute.
Matthew and May Realty Advisors are active supporters of the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, City of Hope, Special Olympics, and Habitat for Humanity.

Richard has been involved in the real estate industry, both tangentially and directly, for the past thirty years. Prior to becoming a licensed Real Estate Broker, Richard was an Architect and the Managing Principal in MCG Architects.
While at MCG, Richard oversaw more than one billion square-feet of new and renovated, retail malls, lifestyle centers and urban development projects and played a key role in firm’s major presence in the United States and abroad. With a strong desire to utilize his design and development skills on his own behalf and that of his clients, Richard joined Millennium Properties and Development with offices in Los Angeles and Las Vegas as Principal. Richard completed over $300,000,000.00 of land transactions during his tenure at Millennium.
During his tenure at MCG, Richard worked closely and successfully with Matthew, who handled MCG’s real estate matters, and in 2011 Richard joined May Realty Advisors as a Managing Director and reunited with his longtime friend and business associate Matthew May.
Samantha Mills brings well over 20 years of experience and expertise in the retail arena.
Beginning with opening and building a retail apparel chain at age nineteen and then developing her first shopping center at age 25, Samantha brings a broad knowledge in retailing, ground-up developing of shopping centers, center design, permitting,and construction, incorporating legal document review and drafting. This knowledge and experience has led into in a successful career and have further culminated in the appointment as the Head of Colliers International Retail Division for the Western United States and the subsequent appointment as Vice President at May Realty Advisors to provide development, strategic planning, leasing, sale, and retail site acquisition representation.
Samantha has negotiated on behalf of many national/regional companies in their expansion, including Choice Hotels, Chipotle, La-Z-Boy, Office Max, Taco Bell, FED/EX, Del Taco, State of California, San Diego County General Services, San Diego County Board of Education and various financial institutions resulting in over a billion dollars in contractual obligations including the then largest land sale transaction in the brokerage’s history.
